Photography has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. Enchanted by old black and whites of our family that lived in the plastic box in mom’s closet, the LIFE magazines on the coffee table that illustrated experiences outside of my own, and colored polaroids dad took of their family adventures, portrait and lifestyle photography was natural for me. Never comfortable having my own photograph taken, however, two different professional photographers - and masters of their craft - changed my life when they curated photography sessions for me and directed me to my center. The confidence & calm that emerged in front of their lenses did not align with my inner vision and I studied those images for years - using them as touchstones when I needed a reminder. It’s truly transformative when space is held in such a way that we can simply relax and breathe - the place where our light shines it’s brightest. The experience with Sandra far exceeded my expectations...really because of her presence - her skill, her artistic eye, her capacity to create - the setting, the background, the clothing. Sandra's ability to work with the light for these images and to direct and encourage, helped me feel comfortable and beautiful. All of this allowed me to show my best self. "My photoshoot with Sandra was really fun! It made me feel like I could maybe take a good picture - and made me feel pretty, even in this body that I'm not very comfortable with. And the pictures Sandra took are fabulous! This is my third session with her and I'm amazed that she says I'm pretty because I never really think of myself that way. But it was so cool in some little part of me to think that maybe that was true. Sandra helped me feel that way. I'm 52 years old and I'm still learning to be accepting of myself and who I am. I always feel a little reluctant before the shoots, but the longer we work, and the more she directs, the more I feel like I'm doing ok. Thank you for making me look & feel so wonderful Sandra!!"
